After modeling almost exclusively props for work, a coworker challenged us all to make a really low poly character for fun.
I decided to take a pre-existing character design and create an adaptation that would look at home on the Nintendo DS. My poor test subject is Femshep from Mass Effect 3. The model uses exaggerated proportions and hand-painted textures to create a cutesy cartoonish effect. In the spirit of extreme restrictions, it also features 490 tris and a 512×512 diffuse map. Model displayed in Unity.
