Crystal Shooter is a space-themed game where the player shoots colored lasers to shatter matching crystals. Each level, the ship moves faster and there are more crystals to destroy.
I did the artwork & interface and a friend did the programming & game design. We decided to use a hand-painted look for the sprites, instead of pixel art. I illustrated the spritesheets using a bright, semi-cartoon look. For contrast, I designed the UI with a more retro-pixel aesthetic in mind. The game is played entirely with the keyboard; a few menu screens and a minimal HUD kept things simple.
